
Troopers found a trailer had broken open, spilling dense bundles of flattened cardboard onto the roadway.
BURLINGTON, Wash. — One lane of southbound Interstate 5 north of Burlington remained closed Tuesday morning after a semitruck crashed into a ditch, scattering cardboard bales across the freeway, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
State troopers responded to the crash around 3:15 a.m. When they arrived, they found the trailer had broken open, spilling dense bundles of flattened cardboard onto the roadway.
The right lane near the Bow Hill Rest Area at milepost 238 remained blocked for several hours Tuesday morning as crews worked to remove the truck and clear the debris, officials said just before 8 a.m.
Tow crews removed the tractor and continued working to clear the trailer.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Brad Tulloch said no injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
