PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — A man was arrested Sunday in connection to the shooting death of another man in a car in Kitsap County.
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office responded about 7:30 p.m. to Beach Drive East and East Blaisdell Lane near the Waterman community.
Three men were in a car, and a 21-year-old man pulled out a firearm during a verbal argument. The 21-year-old, who was a passenger in the car, told police he thought the gun was unloaded after he removed the magazine. However, there was still a round in the chamber.
Another man in the car was struck with one round, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver tried to take him to the hospital and then called 911.
Law enforcement intercepted the car near Onley Avenue East and East Washington Street in Port Orchard.
First responders aided the man who was shot. However, he was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m.
The 21-year-old was detained at the scene and booked into the Kitsap County Jail on suspicion of manslaughter.
The case was referred to the Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for a charging decision.
