SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department is investigating after a car was found submerged in Lake Washington on Sunday morning.
Dispatchers received reports about 8:16 a.m. of a car in the water in the 2400 block of Lake Washington Boulevard South. A park and jogging trail runs along the water’s edge in that section of the city near Lake Washington Fishing Pier.
Seattle police officers and the Harbor Patrol unit found the vehicle about 40 to 50 feet offshore. The windows and doors of the car were closed.
Divers with the Seattle Fire Department got into the car and didn’t find anyone inside. No one was found in the surrounding area either.
Deputies with the King County Sheriff’s Office are trying to contact the car’s registered owner.
A tow truck company will remove the car from the water, a Seattle police spokesperson said.
