SAMMAMISH, Wash. — A man in his 30s is in life-threatening condition after he was pulled from Lake Sammamish on Tuesday afternoon, according to Eastside Fire and Rescue.
The man was first seen in an inflatable lounge chair with a life vest on. Witnesses said he was then seen swimming to shore, then saw him face down in the water, according to a spokesperson for Eastside Fire.
Witnesses dragged the man to the shore and began CPR.
Rescue teams arrived and continued CPR for another 30 minutes. He was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition, Eastside Fire said.
The department warns people to use extreme caution in and around Washington waters as the weather begins to warm up. Lakes, rivers and Puget Sound can remain dangerously cold, despite the hot temperatures.
