PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a seriously wounded person in the 10200 block of S. Sheridan Avenue in Parkland around 7:13 p.m. Sunday.
The victim, a 16-year-old boy, suffered a gunshot wound. Medical responders performed CPR, but he died at the scene.
According to Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Carly Cappetto, the boy was walking with his girlfriend, also 16 years old, when a vehicle drove up and surprised them. The occupant robbed the boy of some jewelry and then shot him, Cappetto said.
“We have multiple suspects outstanding, which is very concerning,” Cappetto told KING 5. “We are asking the community not to approach vehicles they do not know.”
Cappetto also asked community members within a 3-mile radius of the incident to provide any footage or surveillance related to the case.
“This was a true victim tonight,” Cappetto said.
