SEATTLE — A 19-year-old man died Saturday after he was shot in South Seattle earlier this month, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Police said the man was shot in the head late May 8 and taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. He died from his injuries May 16.
According to Seattle police, the shooting happened around 11:40 p.m. near 32nd Avenue South and South Chicago Street.
Officers and Seattle Fire Department crews provided aid before medics took the man to the hospital.
Detectives later determined the shooting happened near Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Henderson Street. Police said the shooter or shooters fired at the victim’s vehicle, hitting it several times, before leaving the area in a car.
Officers found dozens of shell casings and impounded two vehicles as part of the investigation.
No arrests had been made when police first released information about the shooting.
Seattle police said homicide detectives have taken over the case, which remains open.
