Law enforcement are searching for an inmate who escaped the Monroe Correctional Complex on Friday.
MONROE, Wash. — Police are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Monroe Correctional Complex on Thursday night.
Samuel Evans Kimble, 25, escaped the minimum security unit at 10:53 p.m., according to the Washington State Department of Corrections.
Kimble is 5-foot-9 and 158 pounds. He was last seen wearing a khaki coat, gray sweatpants and a black durag.
Staff said Kimble was not in the facility during a formal head count at 3:30 a.m. Restricted movement was called in to search the prison grounds. Security footage showed the exact time of Kimble’s escape.
The Department of Corrections notified local law enforcement and nearby schools. Monroe High School is located approximately 1 mile from the prison.
As of Friday at 10:15 a.m., Monroe police said they do not believe Kimble is in the Monroe area.
Kimble was serving a two-year, three-month sentence for a domestic violence court order violation for assault out of Snohomish County. Kimble was expected to be released Jan. 5, 2027.
Once Kimble is back in custody, the department said it would conduct a review of the escape.
The Monroe Correctional Complex houses about 2,400 inmates in minimum, medium, close and maximum security quarters.
If Kimble is seen, people should not approach him. The public should call 911 or the Department of Corrections headquarters at (360) 794-2720.
