Thieves have stolen roughly $350,000 in equipment from one production company over several months.
SEATTLE — A group of business owners who work in Seattle’s creative arts industry pressed police leadership Friday over their investigation into a string of burglaries.
Tenacious Ventures and Victory Studios hosted a community forum at their shared facility in the city’s Interbay neighborhood, bringing crime victims face to face with representatives from the Seattle Police Department (SPD), Mayor Katie Wilson’s office and the city’s Office of Economic Development.
Tenacious Ventures has lost $350,000 in equipment, while Victory Studios has lost $50,000 in equipment.
While complimentary of the initial police response, Tenacious Ventures CEO Colin Christianson has been critical of the investigative process.
“The patrol officers are great, they’re usually like within one minute to two minutes of getting here to potentially almost capture them but the next phase is the detective work,” he previously told KING 5.
The first incident happened in November 2025.
The unit that handles general investigations for SPD only has six detectives.
Assistant Chief Nicole Powell of SPD’s investigation Bureau urged the group to be patient and the case detective reviews evidence.
“When a report is done on a burglary, it does take some time. It’s a process before it gets assigned to a detective,” she said. “What we want to do is make sure we get the right people and arrest he right people. That takes time. Warrants take time. Looking through all the evidence takes time.”
After weeks without follow-up, Christianson said he and others started spotting their stolen equipment listed for sale online.
They began tracking listings, coordinating with other businesses and, in some cases, posing as buyers to try and recover what they could.
He shared photos and videos with KING 5 showing what he said is some of that effort. He said they have given all photos, videos and documentation to Seattle police.
So far, Christianson said about $20,000 worth of equipment has been recovered.
