Man arrested in connection to deadly Tacoma shooting

A suspect was arrested on Friday in connection to the April 23 shooting of a 32-year-old man in Tacoma.

TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma police have arrested a suspect in connection to a deadly shooting in Tacoma last month.

Police arrested the suspect on May 8. He was booked into Pierce County Jail on a homicide charge. 

On the night of April 23, a man was shot and killed in the 1100 block of South J Street. Officers found the man with an apparent gunshot wound and attempted life-saving measures. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. 

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 32-year-old Khiree Shakur Johnson-Scott. He died from a gunshot wound to the chest and his death is ruled a homicide, the agency determined

Tacoma police did not release any further information about the suspect or what led up to the shooting.
