
A ‘potential explosive’ was found on the shoulder of Waddell Creek Road.
THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — An evacuation was ordered in an area just outside Capitol State Forest in Thurston County Wednesday afternoon after a “potential explosive” was reported, according to Washington State Patrol.
An initial call to the 8700 block of Waddell Creek Road was made just after 2 p.m. for what the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office described as a “suspicious item” on the shoulder of the road.
The bomb squad was requested shortly before 3 p.m., according to state patrol.
The surrounding area was evacuated and the road was closed.
