Just two days after the Monday crash, a 2-year-old girl has died from her injuries. An 8-year-old girl suffered critical injuries.

AUBURN, Wash. — A toddler has died and another girl was critically injured in a car crash in Auburn on April 27.

The 2-year-old girl died from blunt force injury of the head and neck, according to the King County Medical Examiner. An 8-year-old girl was critically injured, according to the Auburn Police Department.

The 21-year-old driver of the vehicle remains hospitalized for her injuries. However, she is expected to be booked into jail on vehicular homicide and vehicular assault charges upon her release, according to a spokesperson for Auburn police.

The driver is a family member of the girls, but not their mother, the spokesperson said. She had a blood alcohol level “well over the legal limit” when she crashed head-on into a tree on Monday, the spokesperson said.

The crash occurred in the Lea Hill area on 104th Avenue Southeast. It shut down the road for several hours.
