A bar owner stepped outside, saw what was happening in his parking lot, and made a split-second decision.

HOUSTON — A North Harris County bar owner says his business has been hit with negative online reviews after a confrontation with a food trailer — an incident he captured on video that has since gone viral.

David Wilkerson said he posted the video Saturday morning after the encounter outside his bar the night before. By the time he woke up, he said, it had gained significant attention online.

The footage shows a food trailer pulling into the bar’s parking lot at FM 1960 and Ella. Wilkerson said he watched as a woman exited the truck and dropped what he believed to be a heavy bag of spent charcoal.

“It looked like a sandbag, but it was a trash bag, because it had a lot of weight to it,” he said.

Wilkerson then ran outside, picked up the bag and threw it back toward the truck as it attempted to leave.

“When she got in the truck and went to put it in drive to pull off, that’s when I took off and said, ‘No, you can have that back,’” he said.

According to Wilkerson, the driver later returned and entered the bar to confront him. He said he went to the back of the establishment to avoid escalating the situation.

The woman has not been charged with a crime, and her face has been blurred in the video above. Attempts to reach her using the phone number listed on the trailer were unsuccessful.

Wilkerson said some viewers online suggested he should have reported the incident to law enforcement, but he chose not to.

“I made sure to return to sender,” he said.

Since the video spread online, Wilkerson said his business has received negative Google reviews, which he believes are tied to the incident. He said he is continuing to handle the situation himself.
