Investigators say the case began after a woman escaped from a Bremerton motel room.

BREMERTON, Wash. — Two people have been charged in Kitsap County in a human trafficking case tied to a Bremerton motel after police said the pair were found in Tennessee and brought back to Washington.

Sakadia Joanne Greene, 38, and Frederick Dwayne Garth Sr., 50, were each charged with second-degree human trafficking in Kitsap County Superior Court.

According to court documents and investigators, on July 9, 2025, at the Baymont Inn on Kitsap Way in Bremerton, Greene and Garth recruited and harbored a woman for the purpose of commercial sex acts through fraud and coercion.

Police said the woman was invited to “hang out and party” for Greene’s birthday in Tacoma, then taken to the motel.

Investigators wrote that Greene arranged multiple prostitution “dates” at the hotel, while Garth pressured the woman to take part and repeatedly told her they were going to make money.

Court documents allege the woman tried to avoid taking part, but Garth continued to pressure her and Greene remained involved during the encounter.

Investigators wrote that the woman said she was scared, felt helpless and did not believe she was free to leave.

According to police, the woman got out only after Garth fell asleep.

Investigators said surveillance video showed her running from the room in a panic and that Greene came out moments later and scanned the hallway.

Police also said text messages and witness statements supported the woman’s account and showed she had been asking for help.

Investigators wrote that Greene’s alleged role included transporting the woman, securing the motel room under false identification, arranging the prostitution dates and remaining present while Garth pressured the woman.

Police said Garth used threats, intimidation and control of the woman’s movements to keep her at the motel and push her into commercial sex acts.

Bremerton police said both defendants left the state while they were being sought and were later arrested in Tennessee.

Detectives extradited Greene and Garth back to Washington, where both were booked into the Kitsap County Jail.

Police said human trafficking remains an ongoing issue in the community and that investigations often continue after arrests and charges are filed.

Bail was set at $150,000 for Garth and $50,000 for Greene.
