Woman injured with significant burns after fire rips through Graham home

A woman suffered significant burns in a Graham house fire that displaced four people. Crews battled flames through the roof for 45 minutes to get it under control.

GRAHAM, Wash. — A woman was taken to the hospital with significant burn injuries after a residential fire in Graham early Thursday morning.

Four people were displaced from the house fire, according to Central Pierce Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire about 12:48 a.m. in the 22500 block of 147th Avenue Court East. Crews saw “heavy fire” with flames burning through the roof of the home.

Firefighters took a defensive position to protect surrounding properties and get the fire under control. It took about 45 minutes to knock down the main body of the fire, according to the department.

Photos shared by the department show heavy smoke and substantial damage to the structure.

One woman in her 20s was injured with significant burns.

Firefighters remained on scene to monitor for hotspots and conduct fire watch operations.  

The Pierce County fire marshal will determine the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting the residents who were displaced.
