FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Westbound state Route 18 is blocked after a fatal crash early Thursday morning that killed two people and injured two others.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson confirmed to KING 5 that the crash, reported around 1 a.m., was fatal. It continued to cause extensive backups on the highway.
Johnson said the vehicle passed a Washington State Patrol trooper traveling 131 mph. After observing the high speed, the trooper initiated a pursuit.
The vehicle came to a stop after the crash, ejecting two people. Two others remained inside, according to Johnson. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
The Federal Way Police Department is investigating the crash.
