
An upper level low pressure system that gave us rain this week is moving northeast.
SEATTLE — A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for much of Central and Eastern Washington.
The National Weather Service issued the Watch for the Cascades of Washington state and 20 counties. It will remain in effect until midnight.
The following counties are included:
- Adams
- Asotin
- Benton
- Chelan
- Columbia
- Douglas
- Ferry
- Franklin
- Garfield
- Grant
- Kittitas
- Klickitat
- Lincoln
- Okanogan
- Pend Oreille
- Spokane
- Stevens
- Walla Walla
- Whitman
- Yakima
The National Weather Service provided the following safety tips: Find a sturdy building or car with a hardtop roof for shelter; avoid hilltops, open fields, tall trees and water activities; stay inside for 30 minutes after hearing thunder.
The upper level low pressure system that gave us the rain earlier this week has continued to sit over California this week, but it has been far enough away that it hasn’t impacted our weather.
