
A Tacoma apartment fire late Tuesday claimed one life, with firefighters quickly extinguishing the flames. Authorities are investigating the fire’s cause.
TACOMA, Wash. — One person is dead after an apartment fire late Tuesday night in Tacoma, according to the Tacoma Fire Department.
The department said crews responded around 11:47 p.m. to the 200 block of North Yakima Avenue after reports of flames coming from an apartment building.
When firefighters arrived, they found flames climbing from a first-floor unit up the side of the building. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, officials said.
The fire was contained to one apartment unit and part of the building’s exterior.
The department confirmed one person died in the fire. All other occupants safely escaped, and no other injuries were reported.
Officials urged people to use caution in the area as firefighters and Tacoma police remain on scene investigating the cause.
