A Snohomish mobile home fire left a resident with serious burns, with no working smoke alarms reported, as officials investigate the cause of the blaze.

SNOHOMISH, Wash. — A person was seriously injured in an early morning fire at a mobile home in Snohomish, according to Snohomish County Fire District 4.

Firefighters were dispatched around 1:29 a.m. Friday to the 6900 block of 87th Avenue Southeast after reports of a deck fire at the rear of a double-wide mobile home. Crews arrived within minutes and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back deck, according to fire officials.

Two people were inside the home when the fire started. One of the occupants was awake and opened the back door to check the source of the fire, which officials said allowed the flames to spread throughout the home.

One resident suffered serious second-degree burns to the hands and face and was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center for treatment. No firefighters were injured.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 20 minutes, with the situation declared under control at 1:57 a.m., according to the media alert.

The American Red Cross is assisting the two displaced residents, along with their cat and dog. Officials said there were no working smoke alarms in the home.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Officials said the home is considered a total loss.
