ABERDEEN, Wash. — Aberdeen police are investigating the death of a 4-year-old boy whose body was found buried near a home in a residential neighborhood of Aberdeen.
Family members and the Grays Harbor County Coroner’s office identified the child as Aiden Scott Bevins.
Aberdeen police confirmed the child’s body was found buried in a family member’s yard and said detectives are continuing to investigate the boy’s death.
Two family members contacted KING 5 after learning Aiden had died under what they described as suspicious circumstances. The family members said they contacted the Aberdeen Police Department after growing concerned. They said investigators later found the child’s body.
Family members described their grief while speaking with KING 5.
Crystal Singletary, identified as a grandmother through marriage, questioned why authorities were not contacted sooner.
“No matter what the case was … Even if he died naturally why didn’t you call somebody? What possible reason in there is logical that’s logical to not report it,” Singletary said.
While KING 5 covered the story Tuesday, an Aberdeen police officer arrived at the home where family members said investigators found the child’s body and spoke with a family member.
KING 5 blurred the face of a man at the home because police have not identified him as a person of interest. The Grays Harbor Coroner’s Office said it is working to determine how Aiden died. No one is in custody and the investigation remains active.
