ABERDEEN, Wash. — The Grays Harbor Coroner’s Office has confirmed the death of 4-year-old Aiden Scott Bevins as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Aberdeen Police Department confirmed it is investigating the child’s death but has released few details about the case.
Family members told KING 5 they had grown concerned after not seeing Aiden for some time and contacted the Aberdeen Police Department.
Two family members told KING 5 investigators were later led to the child’s body, buried in a relative’s backyard in Aberdeen. Police have not publicly confirmed where the child was found.
Family members say they are still waiting to learn how Aiden died.
Crystal Singletary, identified as a grandmother through marriage, said she was angry no one reported the child’s death.
“I don’t get it, I don’t get it. It was unbelievable – I don’t care what the excuse, even if he died naturally, you didn’t tell anybody – you didn’t tell anybody,” Singletary said.
While KING 5 was covering the story, an Aberdeen police officer arrived at the home where family members say the child’s body was found. KING 5 observed the officer speak with a family member before leaving.
KING 5 blurred the face of a man at the home because he has not been identified as a person of interest. Before police arrived, he told KING 5 he is cooperating with investigators and is heartbroken over the child’s death.
The investigation remains active.
The Aberdeen Police Department said more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
