THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — A truck and sedan collided in Thurston County Monday morning, killing one driver and closing a major highway for several hours, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Old Highway 99 between Tenino and Tilley roads closed after the two vehicles crashed just after 9 a.m.
The driver of the sedan died at the scene, according to Thurston County sheriff’s Lt. Mike Brooks. The driver of the truck was taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
Authorities could not immediately confirm the cause of the crash.
Officials encouraged drivers to use state Route 507 or alternate routes as the closure was expected to last several hours.
