
A wrong-way crash on I-5 near Tacoma left three seriously injured, with one person arrested for suspected DUI, causing an extended road closure.
TACOMA, Wash. — A wrong-way collision involving a suspected impaired driver shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Tacoma Sunday morning and left three people seriously injured, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The first update about the crash was posted just before 8:50 a.m. Trooper Kameron Watts said all southbound lanes of I-5 near milepost 129 were blocked because of a wrong-way collision.
Watts said four people had been taken to the hospital. Three of those victims suffered serious injuries.
One person has been arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular assault. Additional charges have not yet been determined.
