TACOMA, Wash. — This isn’t what Goodwill means by explosive deals.
Staff at the Tacoma Goodwill North found a grenade in a donation bin Tuesday.
Customers and staff were evacuated from the building for safety after staff called the Tacoma Police Department. The TPD Explosive Ordinance Detail team attended the scene.
Using digital radiography, the explosive experts determined that the grenade was not live and collected the round. After securing the scene, business continued as usual.
Per its donation list, Goodwill does not accept firearms or fireworks, but does not specifically name explosives on its cannot-accept list.
Even so, Goodwill of Greater Washington is no stranger to strange items.
In an October blog post, the nonprofit shared a few of the weirdest items the region has seen on its shelves: a human skull, a preserved shark in a jar, vintage display foods, and a kayak, to name a few.
