PORT ANGELES, Wash. — Students at Port Angeles High School were dismissed early Thursday after the school received a “vague threat” from an anonymous caller.
In an email to families, the Port Angeles School District said all students were brought inside and doors were secured after the threat was received.
“Law enforcement was immediately notified and is actively working to verify the caller and assess the credibility of the threat,” the district said.
The district said it decided to send students home at 10:15 a.m., and the Port Angeles Police Department is investigating the phone call.
“We take all threats seriously and will continue to work closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety of our school community,” the district said. “We will provide additional information as it becomes available.”
