
The deadly crash occurred on Wednesday afternoon along Highway 9.
LAKE STEVENS, Wash. — One person was killed in a collision with a semitruck along Highway 9 near Lake Stevens on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
Trooper Kelsey Harding said on social media that the collision took place near 84th Street Northeast between one car and a semitruck.
A 72-year-old woman was driving south on Highway 9 when she lost control and entered the northbound lane. The car was hit by a semitruck and the car’s passenger, a 72-year-old man, died at the scene, according to WSP. The woman was also injured in the crash.
State patrol said the cause of the crash was driving too fast for the conditions.
There is no estimated time for the highway to reopen and drivers are urged to avoid the area as officials investigate.
