RENTON, Wash. — The Renton Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance as detectives investigate a serious collision that left a motorcyclist in critical condition.

The crash occurred around 7:50 p.m. on April 11 near the intersection of Northeast Sunset Boulevard and Northeast 12th Street. According to investigators, the incident involved a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle.

Preliminary information indicates the driver of the car was pulling out of a parking lot onto Northeast Sunset Boulevard at the same time two motorcyclists were traveling westbound toward Interstate 405. One of the riders was struck in the collision and sustained critical injuries.

Detectives are continuing to piece together the circumstances of the crash, including whether speed played a role.

Authorities are urging anyone who was in the area at the time to check for potential video evidence. Specifically, investigators are looking for dashcam or surveillance footage recorded between 7:40 p.m. and 7:55 p.m. along Northeast Sunset Boulevard between Northeast 12th Street and Union Ave Northeast.

Police are also seeking to identify witnesses who may have seen the crash but were not interviewed at the scene.

Anyone with information or video footage is asked to contact Detective Lane at [email protected]. Officials said even small details could prove crucial in determining exactly what led to the collision.

“This is an active investigation, and community assistance could make a significant difference,” police said.
