TACOMA, Wash. — A driver was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run after reportedly striking a Washington State Patrol vehicle at the scene of a crash on I-5 in Tacoma early Saturday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, troopers were investigating a collision near South 72nd Street when a sedan drove through the scene using the right shoulder as a travel lane and hit a patrol car. The suspect vehicle continued southbound.
Washington State Patrol said that the trooper was outside the patrol car at the time of impact. The trooper suffered minor injuries but was able to re-enter his vehicle and arrest the suspect on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
