SEATTLE — One person is in custody after stealing a Washington State Patrol (WSP) vehicle, prompting a pursuit on Interstate 5 on Christmas Day.
At around 12:00 p.m., a WSP trooper approached a pedestrian running across I-5, near Northgate Way in Seattle, when the person pushed the trooper to the ground and drove off in the patrol vehicle, according to WSP.
The Seattle Police Department (SPD) said they received a call from WSP requesting help. The agency assisted in the pursuit, according to officials.
The pursuit ended on southbound I-5 in Lynnwood. The incident blocked the left and HOV lanes, which have since reopened.
No injuries were reported.
