About 117 employees will be affected. The facility will close by Nov. 30, officials said.

NORTH BEND, Wash. — A heavy machinery manufacturer will close its North Bend facility by Nov. 30, closing 117 jobs, according to the state employment security department.

Genie Industries, owned by Terex LLC, will close its aerial parts and logistics facility in North Bend, affecting all employees at the warehouse and manufacturing department. The company has notified all staff members, vice president Jenny Snow-Boscolo wrote in an email to the Washington State Employment Security Department, with the first round of layoffs to occur on July 20.

According to the announcement, the company has decided to relocate its operations to three different existing operations locations: locally in Redmond and across the country in Missouri and South Carolina. Snow-Boscolo said the move would “better position the company for long term sustainability and operational efficiency.”

Some staff have been offered reassignment positions at the three facilities, and some may be able to relocate, the company said, but those who do not choose a new role at Terex will be laid off. According to the letter, there is no union representing Genie staff at the North Bend location.

The state office encourages affected employees to seek assistance using Worksource Washington.

According to the Snoqualmie Valley Record, Terex built the warehouse facility in North Bend in 2009, after operations at the company’s Redmond facility outgrew the area’s capacity. Genie Industries’ main office is in Bothell, and there are additional aerial work facilities in Moses Lake and Redmond.
