A puppy in the vehicle had unknown injuries, officials said.
PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Pierce County officials responded to reports of a fatal rollover crash near Electron Saturday night.
Around 9:04 p.m., a truck with two male occupants — a driver, passenger plus a puppy — rolled over at the intersection of Orville Road East and Griggs Road East near Lake Kapowsin. Both travelers were men in their 40s to 50s, and neither wore seat belts, according to reports on the scene.
Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Carly Cappetto said that first responders declared the driver of the vehicle deceased at the scene. The passenger was taken to a local hospital in “grave condition.” The puppy had unknown injuries, and Pierce County Fire Department took the dog to an emergency veterinary clinic.
“The road will b shut down in both directions for some time. It is unknown what the causing factor was and it’s early in the investigation,” Cappetto told KING 5.
