Multiple lanes of Interstate 5 northbound were shut down on Wednesday morning due to a fatal car-pedestrian collision. The lanes reopened just before 8:30 a.m.

TUKWILA, Wash. — Northbound Interstate 5 reopened after more than three hours of lane closures at Martin Luther King Jr. Way following a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Emergency crews responded to the collision around 5 a.m.

The two right lanes on northbound I-5 were blocked and the on-ramp from Boeing Access Road is partially blocked for multiple hour due to the investigation, slowing the commute from the south into Seattle.

Trooper Rick Johnson of WSP urged drivers to use caution and seek alternate routes.

The Washington State Department of Transportation incident response crews responded to the scene, along with WSP and fire crews.

There were more than three miles of back-up before 7 a.m.

No further details on the incident or the victims have been released at this time.
