
The newest store opening in western Washington will serve communities near Northgate Mall.
SEATTLE — A beloved, eclectic grocery store will soon open its doors in a new location in North Seattle.
Trader Joe’s confirmed on March 27 it is opening a new grocery store at 401 NE Northgate Way. An official date for its opening has not yet been announced.
This popular shopping area is home to the Northgate Mall and the Seattle Kaken Community Iceplex. Sound Transit opened its Northgate Station in 2021, connecting North Seattleites to popular destinations, including Husky Stadium, Lumen Field, and the core of downtown Seattle.
In February, the grocery chain confirmed it is opening a store in Woodinville, the first Trader Joe’s in the city.
Washington has nearly 30 Trader Joe’s stores. The most recent location opened in Lacey in November 2025. Trader Joe’s also opened a new Seattle store in the Greenwood neighborhood in April and a Bellingham store in May last year.
