Kenneth Walker’s father witnessed his son lead the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory and earn MVP honors as he attended his first ever NFL game.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Kenneth Walker’s father had never attended an NFL game until Sunday’s Super Bowl, and what a game to see.
His son’s team, the Seattle Seahawks, defeated the New England Patriots and his son was named was the game’s most valuable player, the first running back to do so in 28 years.
Walker said in a postgame press conference that his mom, dad and little brother were at the game in Santa Clara.
“My dad, he comes to Seattle all the time to watch games, but he never goes to the game because he don’t like crowds,” Walker told reporters after the game.
However, Walker’s agent convinced the running back’s dad to attend the Super Bowl. The Seahawks star didn’t think he dad would be there.
“So this is his first NFL game and we won a Super Bowl,” said Walker. “It means a lot to me and I know he’s proud of me, for real.”
Walker said his dad was even mic’d up: “He got out of his comfort zone.”
Walker had 135 yards on 27 carries in the game.
This season was the final year on his rookie contract. The Seahawks drafted him out of Michigan State in 2022.
