Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that left one man dead.
SUMAS, Wash. — A man was found dead Sunday morning after a house fire in Sumas, according to Whatcom County Fire District 14.
Firefighters were dispatched just before 9 a.m. to a home in the 3300 block of Halverstick Road. Crews arrived minutes later to find smoke and flames coming from the residence.
While putting out the fire, firefighters discovered a deceased male inside the home. Authorities have not released his identity.
The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
