For the daughter of a San Francisco 49ers legend and wife to a Seahawks player, Williams is no stranger to the NFL lifestyle.
SAN FRANCISCO — Hailey Lott Williams says she and her husband are preparing for both a baby and the Super Bowl by staying “really flexible and fluid” as they navigate pregnancy and NFL pressure. As the daughter of the San Francisco 49ers legend Ronnie Lott and the husband to the Seahawks’ Leonard Williams, she is no stranger to the intensity of the NFL.
Williams said the NFC Championship celebration on the field was “such a special moment” as partners rushed out after the win.
“When I saw him, I just remember him picking me up, like he said, and I felt like he was holding me like a little baby,” she said, adding, “I just I love that feeling of the way he loves me and the way he cares for me.”
With her due date approaching, Williams said this playoff run has been new territory for both of them.
“I think we’re just being really flexible and fluid, because we’ve never been this far right in football,” she said, noting that “for my husband, it’s different, it’s harder on his body, and so I’m adjusting, being pregnant is harder on my body, and so he’s adjusting.”
Hailey has also built a business in breathwork, meditation and mindfulness that grew out of practices she started as a child. Those practices are being put into play as her and her husband enter this season of life.
“My mom actually had us doing family yoga when we were kids, and that’s kind of where my journey, I feel with meditation, started,” she said, explaining that after struggling with her own mental health, “meditation kind of became the practice that was the holistic way for me to heal,” and about 10 years ago she began “really studying it and started teaching it myself.”
The Seahawks recently recognized Williams for her work, an experience she called “another special moment.”
“I remember I said in my speech … I think the world at large is very male centered… and for the Seahawks to take a moment to acknowledge me and the way that I showed up is everything,” she said.
Looking ahead to the upcoming game, Williams said she feels “so excited and so grateful and just so curious to see what he’s going to do.” Calling her husband “an amazing player” on a team “filled with amazing men that just have this connection that I’ve never seen before.”
She said she is most eager to be with family and watch “the ways that the Seahawks surprise us,” adding that each week fans see “these crazy plays… and these things that we’re just like, wow.”
