Multiple news outlets reported Friday that the team will go on the market after the Super Bowl, but a statement from Paul Allen’s estate contradicted that.

SEATTLE — A report that the Seattle Seahawks would be put up for sale after Super Bowl LX drew a swift response from the estate of late owner Paul G. Allen, which said the team is not currently on the market.

ESPN, citing league and ownership sources, reported that the Seahawks would go up for sale after the upcoming Super Bowl, ending years of questions about the franchise’s long-term ownership. ESPN reported that sale discussions had taken place at league and ownership levels.

But a spokesperson for the Paul G. Allen Estate disputed the idea that a sale is imminent.

“We don’t comment on rumors or speculation, and the team is not for sale,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “We’ve already said that will change at some point per Paul’s wishes, but I have no news to share. Our focus right now is winning the Super Bowl and completing the sale of the Portland Trail Blazers in the coming months.”

At the time of Allen’s death, the Seattle-born co-founder of Microsoft, was the owner of the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers as well as the Seahawks and a 25% stake in the Seattle Sounders of Major League Soccer (MLS). Allen’s will directs his sister, Jody, to eventually sell his sports holdings and allocate all the estate proceeds to charity.

The sale of the Trail Blazers was announced in 2025, but has yet to be finalized.

Allen purchased the Seahawks in 1997 after the previous owner attempted to move the franchise out of Seattle. Lumen Field was constructed under Allen’s ownership. The team made back-to-back Super Bowl in 2014 and 2015, winning its only title in the 2014 against the Denver Broncos.
