The Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers Saturday in the NFC divisional round.
SEATTLE — With the city buzzing for a postseason showdown at Lumen Field, Seahawks legend Walter Jones helped set the tone Friday by raising the 12 Flag atop the Space Needle.
The flag-raising celebration came one day before the Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC divisional round, a familiar matchup between longtime NFC West rivals with a trip to the conference championship on the line.
Seattle entered the weekend as the conference’s top seed after finishing 14-3, franchise record, and closing the regular season on a seven-game win streak. The Seahawks clinched the No. 1 spot with a 13-3 win over San Francisco on Jan. 3, making Saturday’s game the second meeting in three weeks and the third time the teams have met in the playoffs.
This week brought a dose of uncertainty for Seattle’s offense after quarterback Sam Darnold was listed as questionable with a left oblique injury. Darnold said he expected to play, and the Seahawks moved forward with preparations for a 49ers team that arrived in Seattle on a short week after playing in the wild-card round Sunday.
The primetime postseason game kicks off at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.
