Bars and restaurants near Lumen Field were filled with fans on Friday, as many arrived for the team’s first home playoff game with fans since 2017.
SEATTLE — Terianne Rice traveled from northern Idaho to Seattle so she could see the Seahawks‘ first home playoff game with fans in attendance since 2017.
“This is my first playoff game here in Seattle. We’re so excited to have the Seahawks and this rivalry with the 49ers. We’re so looking forward to [Saturday] and we just know we’re going to come home with a [win],” Rice said.
On the eve of the game, she found herself surrounded by the Sea Hawkers Booster Club at Gantry Public House near Lumen Field.
The group held a “Blue Friday” party at the bar, a popular spot for games and major events in the stadium district.
“I’ve traveled over for a couple games in the past for preseason and regular season [games], but never a playoff game,” said Rice. “I am expecting a win, yeah. The 12’s would expect nothing less than a win.”
That confidence and excitement has permeated throughout greater Seattle, and, as evidenced by her trip, the entire northwest.
“It’s just good to be around the fanbase again. The excitement in our city is back again … It’s just exciting right now,” said Kenny Burns, a season ticket holder and member of the booster club. “I’m gonna say it right now, I say we blow them out. I say 31-17, and I think that’s me giving them too many points.”
The Seahawks and 49ers kick off at 5 p.m. at Lumen Field.
If the Seahawks win, they will host either the Chicago Bears or Los Angeles Rams next Sunday in the NFC Championship game.
