Areas from Snohomish and King counties picked up a dusting of about 2 inches of snow from Friday through Saturday morning.

NORTH BEND, Wash. — Western Washington saw light snowfall within a Puget Sound convergence zone that lingered into Saturday morning, while mostly dry weather and cold nights will dominate through at least midweek.

Areas in Snohomish and King counties picked up a dusting up to about 2 inches of snow Friday through Saturday morning. Everett reported a light coating, while about an inch fell southeast of Monroe. Farther east and at higher elevations, snowfall totals were significantly higher, with Snoqualmie Pass receiving about 10 inches, White Pass around 14 inches and Stevens Pass also near 14 inches.

A few lingering light showers mixed with snowflakes are still possible in the lowlands, with flurries in the foothills and Cascades. No additional impactful snowfall is expected.

A ridge of high pressure will remain in place through at least Monday, keeping conditions mostly dry but allowing temperatures to drop sharply at night. The coldest nights are expected Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with overnight lows falling into the lower 30s across much of the region and into the upper 20s in northern areas where cold air may drain south from British Columbia.

Patchy dense fog is likely during the overnight and early morning hours, which could lead to slick spots on roads, especially where temperatures dip near or below freezing.

Daytime conditions through the weekend and into early next week will be quiet, with limited precipitation and cool temperatures. The dry pattern is expected to continue through at least Wednesday and New Year’s Eve.

The ridge of high pressure will begin to flatten and shift east later in the week, allowing the next weather system to approach sometime late Wednesday or Thursday. As that system moves closer, temperatures are expected to gradually warm by a few degrees.
