Chief Berg said the fire involved a residence with a massive attached shop, both of which were considered a total loss.

BIG LAKE, Wash. — A fire destroyed a single-family home and a large attached shop in Skagit County, according to the Big Lake Fire Department.

The victims of the fire tell KING 5 that two people lived in the damaged property. They said that, in addition to the structure damage, both of their daily vehicles were destroyed by the blaze.

Earlier reports suggested that the incident displaced four individuals.

Fire Chief Berg said the fire involved a residence with a massive attached shop measuring approximately 60 by 100 feet. Both the home and the shop were considered a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire officials noted a wood stove was being used at the property, but said it is too early to determine whether it played a role.

Fire crews faced additional challenges due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area. Seven neighboring fire departments assisted by transporting water to the scene.

The fire was reported in the 25700 block of Lake Cavanaugh Road. Officials asked drivers to avoid the area during the response.

KING 5 has a news crew headed to the scene and will provide live updates as more information becomes available.
